St. John’s Mission as a member of the broader Church is not static. St. John’s understands its Mission as an obligation to respond creatively and faithfully to the emerging and evolving needs of the Parish, the wider Episcopal Church, and the community in which it lives.

St. John’s Mission is to fulfill its commitment in word and action by:

  • serving Christ in all people, loving our neighbor as ourselves;
  • providing a spiritual home in the context of the Episcopal tradition in accord with the Book of Common Prayer.
  • responding to the needs of others around us with our hearts and hands and financial resources; and
  • striving for justice and peace among all people and to respect the dignity of every human being;

St. John’s understands its Mission as inspired by, and an authentic expression of, its unique gifts which together define its spiritual identity as a community of faith, specifically

-Its deep and long-standing commitment to music as an important and integral expression of worship;

-Its diverse intellectual resources;

-Its instinct for an open and inclusive hospitality, extending God’s welcome in broad and diverse ways.
