The 2024 Holiday Fete had a collection of items from the Stephen Sondheim Estate. St John’s was gifted a unique collection of wooden games and puzzles, card games, select items from his desk, sterling silver personal collectibles, photos, copies of his sheet music, and some framed pieces of memorabilia.
The Clown Animated Music Box - This one-of-a-kind music box plays “Send in the Clowns” with a moving joker’s head.
Poodle Figure a La “ Into the Woods”
From the play “ Into The Woods” this figure, complete with an acrylic box, intertwines several fairy tale characters reminiscent of the Brothers Grimm & Charles Perrault.
19th Century Chinese Lacquer Sewing Box. This lovely antique Chinese sewing box is complete with bobbins, needles, and storage compartments inside.
Complimentary items from the publishing world. - The artist’s proof for his likeness of Stephen Sondheim for an article in The New Yorker, and a New York Times delivery truck with a banner on top and two bound miniature newspaper bundles inside announcing the year of his birth, March 22, 1930.
An antique box from Chubb & Son, London, with decoupaged sheet music from one of Mr. Sondheim’s many musicals, making this a unique piece.
Vintage Needlepoint Writing Tablet - An admirer of the French pianist, composer, and conductor, Maurice Ravel (1875-1927), this beautiful writing tablet contains signed items commemorating the life of Ravel along with original Playbills from All Good Americans, Here Come The Clowns, and Let’em Eat Cake collected by SS.

Vintage Monopoly Game - Mr. Sondheim was the collector of many wooden puzzles and games and was often gifted them by friends and colleagues who knew of his unique game and puzzle fascination.
This is an unused Monopoly set with the cards and deeds still in their original wrapping. A beauty in its wood case and green felt playing board.
Metal Dog Sculpture - This evokes Sondheim’s play “ Into the Woods” where a man is walking his dog. Mr. Sondheim was a dog owner for many years including a pair of black standard poodles.
